Snow Days Ideas
Remember the kiddos have their binders to practice their handwriting in.  They can practice counting to 100, building numbers with their ten frames, and practice their sight words.  I have attached our class list so the kiddos can work on making their Valentine's at home too.  You can have the kiddos do jumping jacks for the alphabet and toe touches for their sounds too.  Reading for 20 minutes a day of course or read on their RAZ kids online.  If you let them go online, Starfall.com is a great sight that is on my blog here. Just some ideas to keep school things floating around in their brains with this many days off.
If we continue to have more this week, I may plan on having the 100th day activities indefinitely on this upcoming Friday.

Online RAZ kids

The kids are doing great with our RAZ kid’s online reading.  When they level up we have a little in class celebration, by cheering three “Hip-Hip Horrays!” while they stand on their chairs. Remember our reading rule is to listen to the story twice, read it twice, and then take a test on it.

Happy February Birthdays!

Testing

We finally finished up everyone’s tests and I will be complying the results for you shortly.  So far, I’m quite pleased with everyone’s progress.

100th Day of School

As of today, our 100th day would fall on this Wed. Feb. 6th.  That is always subject to change if we get any more snow days.  We usually have a very fun day on the 100th day.  I ask that the kiddos try and dress up as if they are 100 years old and bring in 100 items of something in a zip lock bag or Tupperware container.  Ideas are Legos, buttons, cereal, marshmallows, etc.  They can bring in their 100 items on that day too.

Valentine’s Day &
Jump Rope for Heart Day

We will be going to the gym that Thursday morning for a lot of fun indoor activities Mrs. Sluiter.  It will be from 10-11am.  Parents are welcome to come and watch during that time.

Our Valentine’s Day party will be in the afternoon of that same day from 1-2:25.  We will be passing out our Valentines, eating snacks, and playing a few games.  At 2:25 there will be an all school recess before our normal dismissal time.

Every child is to bring, one Valentine for each classmate.  I have attached our class list for the kiddos to get a head start on making them, especially if we get any more snow days.  It would be a good activity for them to work on.
