Reader’s workshop – Reading 5 favorite books from home, (Please send in 5 special/favorite books from home.  Label inside their names too) why we love books, how to care for books, three ways to read a book. (pictures, words, retelling) How to read to self.

Grammar – nouns, verbs, plural nouns, prepositional words

Writing – Class books and journal entries. Speaking & listening to others to help us with our writing. Asking questions – The 5 W’s (Who, What, Where, When, Why) – Questioning Owl

Social Studies: - Feel the Wheel rules – school wide expectations.  Chapter 1, Myself and Others - Session 3:  What are some fair ways to make decisions in a group?  Lockdown drill & tornado drill practice in class.

Science: - How Scientist use their 5 senses.  Starting our science note booking.  Starting Phenomenal Science – Focus – How does science help us understand the world around us?  How can we become more like scientists?  Visit Butterfly garden

Technology: - Starfall on computer, iPad: Write my name app, Letter school, candy count, Park Math.

Elementary School Fundraiser packets due next Monday, September 16th! The class that sells the most gets a Pizza Party or a movie in the auditorium.

Fun to Be Fit Day!

Friday, September 27^th

The green order forms went home the previous week, you do not need to order a tee shirt to participate but many children do order them.  If you order one, please send it in a sealed labeled envelope, checks can be made payable to McBain Schools.  If you want a tee shirt please send those in soon, as availability may run out.

On that day, we meet at the track at 1 for a school wide picture and then we walk, jog, run on the track for a half an hour starting at 1:30.  Parents are welcomed to come and join us and walk with us.  Last year, after it was over parents were able to sign their children out early, at their children’s classrooms.  So, mark your calendars if you can join your sweet Kinder on that day!

Beginning of the year testing starts tomorrow.  We will be taking our reading portion tomorrow and math next Tuesday, Sept. 17^th.  Please help your little get some good sleep tonight and a nutritious dinner.  Monday, Sept. 23^rd we will be having our Dibel’s pre-literacy skills assessments tested. 

Friday Football Readers!

Every Friday, during football season we will have a guest football player reader.  We had Gavin Sieland & Josh Hart as our class readers.   The kids were super excited to meet them and enjoyed their reading to us!
