Language Arts:  - Essential Question –What can you do? ABC sound books, nursery rhymes, Kindergarteners Can, & alphabet bracelets. Letters (N-S), sight words – can & I review

Reading – Nursery rhymes, Authors & Illustrators, starting our CAFÉ menu board – Eagle eye, Lips the Fish, & Jabber the Reteller

Reader’s workshop – Reading 5 favorite books from home, (Please send in 5 special/favorite books from home.  Label inside their names too) why we love books, how to care for books, three ways to read a book. (pictures, words, retelling)

Grammar – nouns, plural nouns, prepositional words

Writing – Class books and journal entries. Speaking & listening to others to help us with our writing. Asking questions – The 5 W’s (Who, What, Where, When, Why) – Tools for writing (offices & ABC charts)

Math: -

Social Studies: - Feel the Wheel rules – school wide expectations.  Constitution Day!

Fun to Be Fit Day!

Friday, September 28^th

The green order forms went home the previous week, you do not need to order a tee shirt to participate but many children do order them.  If you order one, please send it in a sealed labeled envelope, checks can be made payable to McBain Schools.  If you want a tee shirt please send those in soon, as availability may run out.

On that day, we meet at the track at 1 for a school wide picture and then we walk, jog, run on the track for a half an hour starting at 1:30.  Parents are welcomed to come and join us and walk with us.  Last year, after it was over parents were able to sign their children out early, at their children’s classrooms.  So, mark your calendars if you can join your sweet Kinder on that day!

Tuesday, September 18^th Pizza with Dads!

Again, please turn in your orange slips that went home if you are attending.  This is for Dads that are interested in becoming a Watchdog Dad for our school.  It is an outstanding program and the children love having their dads around for the day.  It is from 6-7:30 and it starts with a presentation in the Auditorium.

NWEA MAP testing starts this week.  Tomorrow we start with Math in the morning on Thursday we will be taking our Language Arts test.  Please make sure your cherub is getting the appropriate amount of sleep as we are starting to go five days a week.  It was very noticeable last Thursday, how tired they all were.

I will be sharing with all of you the results of all their testing in the next few weeks.  Progress Reports will be going home this week for all other grade levels, but Kindergarten’s will go home the week of Oct. 12^th.  I plan on making phone calls to everyone to just let everyone know what’s going on in Kindergarten with your littles ones.
